General Information for the Oak Creek Community 

COVID-19 (coronavirus) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus was first identified during an outbreak in China and has since spread to many other countries, including the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is actively responding to both the national and global outbreak.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) is carefully monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19 in Wisconsin and the United States.

As of May 29, there are 159 reported cases of COVID-19 in Oak Creek, 12 COVID-19-related deaths, and 97 recovered. The Oak Creek Health Department works closely with DHS to monitor the outbreak and is prepared to respond as needed. We are ready to implement public health recommendations in cooperation with local medical providers, schools, and other community partners as needed.

The City of Oak Creek has issued a temporary Local Public Health Order, supporting efforts to respond to and contain COVID-19 in our community.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is advising:

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Headache
  • Sore Throat
  • Muscle Pain
  • New loss of taste or smell

Stay healthy by taking these preventative actions:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often
  • Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze with a tissue, sleeve, or your arm
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick
  • Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
