Public Works

The Department of Public Works is divided into four distinct, yet collaborative Divisions: Streets, Parks & Open Space Management, Forestry, and Street Lighting.

The Streets Division of Public Works is responsible for a wide variety of services including overseeing the pickup of residential garbage and recycling (See Garbage and Recycling), operating the recycling yard (See Recycling Yard), and snow removal operations (See Snow and Ice Removal).

Parks & Open Space Maintenance
The Parks & Open Space Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining City parks, pavilions, athletic fields and various median areas throughout the city. For City park or facility rental and usage information see Facilities.

The Forestry Division is responsible for street tree planting, removal, and pruning. They are also responsible for the treatment of City street trees for various diseases, including Emerald Ash Borer. Contact the Urban Forester with questions/concerns regarding your City street trees or private trees.

Street Light Maintenance
The Street Light Maintenance Division oversees and coordinates the operation of all City-owned street lights, and serves as the liaison to lighting systems owned by WE  Energies. Search Street Lights for more information.
