Leslie Flynn

City Administration

A self-proclaimed “map girl,” Leslie Flynn is the Geographic Information Systems Coordinator for the City of Oak Creek, a position which she has held since 2001. An 18-year employee of the city, her official role is to create and maintain all the maps and geographical data for properties in Oak Creek. In addition, she creates computerized mapping applications which are used by city staff to aid in their day-to-day activities. If you’ve visited City Hall or the city’s website, chances are you’ve seen some of her map work.

Leslie is a Caledonia resident, along with her husband Michael, an instructional designer for the Mark Travel Corporation, and their two children, son Reilly, 15, a sophomore at St. Catherine’s High School, and daughter Meghan, 12, a seventh grader at St. Rita’s. A 1987 graduate of Oak Creek High School and a 1991 honors graduate of UW-Parkside with a B.A. in geography, Leslie still maintains her connections to her hometown. “I’ve either lived or worked here for my entire life, so Oak Creek is a part of me. I know the City’s history, have watched it grow, and know so many people who have also stayed close to their roots here."

Her interests include photography-she has taken many of the pictures you see on the City website and Facebook page-and is studying to become a certified holistic Health Coach for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, assisting many friends and families with their health and wellness goals. Leslie also played a significant role in the development of the city’s social media sites, creating content, writing posts, and designing many of the banners and graphics for the Mayor’s Fitness & Weight Loss Challenge event, which closely matched her own personal goal of better health and nutrition.

Her commitment to her hometown runs deep, and she cites community as one of her “connection” points to the city’s future. “After the events of August 5th, I realized that my community pride is as strong as ever. I’m excited about the direction that my hometown is taking, and I’m honored to still be a part of it.”
