If you should ever become incapacitated, the Oak Creek Police Department needs a quick way to find out whom they should contact in an emergency. The I.C.E. Program can help us help you!First responders to any emergency situation must always ensure that the privacy act, which was established for your protection, is never breached. Emergency responders, police, firefighters, and paramedics often times don’t know whom to call when disaster strikes. They may need to talk immediately to a family member or close friend so you can get the medical attention you need as soon as possible.
If you can’t communicate, “ICE” provides contact information. I.C.E. – (In Case of Emergency) is a free and easy way to give us the information we need to help you. Programming your emergency contact information into your phone under the listing “ICE” can assist first responders in contacting family and friends in the event you’re involved in an emergency. “ICE” is the acronym for “In Case of Emergency.” The example shows us that Sue is an emergency contact. By placing “ICE” in front of Sue’s name an emergency worker can quickly contact Sue to get the information we need to help you. More than one person can be listed as emergency contact – you can list them as ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 … To program ICE into your cell phone:
Our police officers can look for the ICE numbers in an emergency situation. Putting your emergency contacts in your phone may help save your life in a critical situation. Help us help you! Take a moment and place your emergency contacts in your phone today! |
