Recycling Program Changes

In co-operation with the Oak Creek Public Works Department and approval from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Waste Management of Wisconsin will be going to fully automated “Single Stream” recycling in Oak Creek.

Residents are asked not to bundle or bag any recyclables. Simply place all of your usual recyclable items (bottles, cans, paper and cardboard) loose in your 64-gallon gray recycle cart. All items will be separated at a Waste Management Recycle facility. Please make sure your recycle cart is at the curb and not within 5 feet of any vertical obstruction, including your blue garbage cart. All items must be contained in the 64-gallon gray recycle cart.

Thank you for your co-operation,
Waste Management

SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING TO LAUNCH IN OAK CREEK

OAK CREEK - (May 25, 2005) – In cooperation with the Oak Creek Public Works Department and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Waste Management officials announced today the adoption of single stream recycling in Oak Creek.

“Single stream recycling is our easiest recycling program yet,” said Municipal Manager Larry Schepp.  “By removing the need for the customer to sort their recyclables, we hope even more consumers will choose to make recycling a part of their daily lives.”

Single Stream recycling will begin for all Oak Creek residents on June 27, 2005.  Single stream recycling will follow the following guidelines:

  • Residents should not bag or bundle recyclable materials
  • All recyclables should be placed into customer’s existing grey recycle cart, including paper and cardboard
  • All pick-up schedules will remain the same
  • Recycle carts must be placed at the curb on pick-up dates, at least five feet from any vertical obstruction, including blue garbage carts

Waste Management provides recycling services to communities throughout southeastern Wisconsin, including communities in Milwaukee, Washington, Ozaukee, Racine, and Waukesha counties.
