Spring has finally arrived, and summer is just ahead! The Memorial Day ceremony will start off the summer season at the Forest Hill Cemetery. Families have dedicated American flags to be flown on Memorial Day in memory of their loved ones. I hope to see many more attend this wonderful tradition. The balloon release at the end of the ceremony is magnificent! The 4th of July celebration will again be held for Oak Creek families. After the parade, we will have ice cream, Cracker Jacks and games for all. The evening fireworks will continue to be bigger and better than ever. Concerts in the park at the Oak Creek Community Center are a growing tradition in Oak Creek. We have a variety of music for everyone and a special surprise for the children. We are grateful for the sponsorship for these events that are coming from the businesses around Oak Creek. The Annual Pig Roast in Miller Park grows in attendance each year and is a great bargain for the money. Music, games, prizes and delicious pork sandwiches, chicken, corn, baked potatoes, hot dogs and ice cream will again be on the menu. A classic car show will also be featured. Economic conditions have been very hard on all of us. Enjoying the things that Oak Creek offers you, such as the lakefront, the parks, and the activities at various events are free or low cost to everyone. We need to support these events and make this summer as enjoyable as possible. If you have any ideas how we can help this city and its residents, please contact my office. “It’s amazing how much can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit.” Don’t forget our military men and women who are serving our country. God bless all of you…and God bless America!
