Dear City of Oak Creek Residents,

Spring has finally arrived and summer is just around the corner! Woodman’s Market is open and is quite a place to shop. We can now look forward to the events planned for the summer in Oak Creek. The summer concert series will begin on Wednesday, June 11 and will continue with two concerts each month through August. Each concert in 2007 gained in numbers of citizens who enjoyed the music, food, beautiful weather and time spent with family and friends.

Memorial Day will have many special events throughout the city starting with the memorial service at Forest Hill Cemetery. There will also be special events at other locations. Look for the schedule of events in Oak Creek NOW.

The 4th of July will again bring lots of excitement with the parade on the same route as 2007. The events at the Legion grounds will be similar to the ones of past years. The Legion grounds have always been the center of festivities in Oak Creek. The spectacular fireworks display that you saw in 2007 will continue with bigger and better surprises in store.

National Night Out and the annual Pig Roast will round out the summer activities. Make sure to mark your calendar for all of these exciting events!

New businesses coming to the city have slowed due to the economy, but we are still receiving inquiries as one of the prime locations for business in Milwaukee County. With gas prices continuing to increase, plans for activities and daily shopping needs within our community seem to be a good way to save money. I have contacted a variety of restaurants, businesses and other shopping venues (i.e., Noodles, Red Lobster, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc.) frequently to increase their recognition and interest in the City of Oak Creek. The city is also working with ideas and suggestions for the property currently held by Delphi. The loss of this large business and its employees has certainly had an effect on our city. The large concrete structure on the northeast side of the property used for the development of guidance systems should certainly be saved as a tribute to all the men and women who have worked at Delphi throughout the years. Our military and space programs all benefited from the work of these people.

Remember: “It’s amazing how much can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit!”

I would like to wish all of our residents a safe and fun-packed summer. God bless all of you and God Bless America.

Don’t forget our military men and women who are still serving around the World.
