Free Short-Term Radon Kits

Did You Know that the Oak Creek Health Department is Offering Free Short-Term Radon Kits for Oak Creek Residents?

Radon is a radioactive gas. It comes from the natural decay of uranium that is found in nearly all soils. It typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through cracks and other holes in the foundation. Your home traps radon inside, where it can build up. Any home may have a radon problem. This means new and old homes, well-sealed and drafty homes, and homes with our without basements.

The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that radon causes several thousand preventable lung cancer deaths nationally each year. Testing is the only way to know if you and your family are at risk from radon exposure.

If you are interested in obtaining a free radon test kit, please stop in the Oak Creek Health Department; proof of residency is required.
