The City of Oak Creek, as part of a regional effort led by the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, and endorsed by Milwaukee County and the south suburban communities has been studying the possible extension of the Lake Parkway from its current end at Edgerton Avenue through to STH 100 (Ryan Road) in Oak Creek. This is one of the first steps in what will be a long term planning process which will include many opportunities for public input. For more information, please refer to the project website:

The Department of Natural Resources is evaluating a land conversion request from Milwaukee County involving Falk Park. Milwaukee County proposes to convert 70 acres of Falk Park and will replace that land with 105 acres of property south of the park. Milwaukee County proposes a land conversion that would exchange property with the City of Oak Creek and private landowners. Three parcels totaling 70 acres near the southern portion of Falk Park will be exchanged and removed from the park boundary.

In 2009, the City of Oak Creek along with its project sponsors WE Energies and Wispark LLC hosted a presentation by an advisory services panel of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) on the redevelopment of the Oak Creek lakefront. The Urban Land Institute (ULI) is a nonprofit research and education organization that focuses on issues of land use and real estate development.
