Work has begun on the City’s two bridge replacement projects.  The two bridges are the Marquette Avenue span over the north branch of the Oak Creek located just west of 1st Street, and the Nicholson Road bridge that spans the Oak Creek between Puetz and Ryan Roads.

These local bridge projects are funded in large part by Wisconsin Department of Transportation grants. Zenith Tech is the contractor for both bridge replacements. The construction is concentrating first on the Nicholson bridge as demolition of the existing structure began July 25. The work on Nicholson bridge will continue steadily with a schedule for new abutments by August 12, at which point bridge deck construction will commence. At about that same date demolition of the Marquette bridge will begin. Weather permitting; the construction of both bridges should be substantially completed by the second week of October.

The work will require traffic to use alternate routes throughout the two projects’ durations.  There are designated detour routes, which have been set up with proper signage.
