City Updates | General |

A vacant retail property in Oak Creek will soon have a new occupant. The Oak Creek Plan Commission recently approved site and building plans submitted by Gary Steinhafel, president of the furniture chain Steinhafels, for the former American TV & Appliance building located at 9191 S. 13th Street.

Steinhafels Inc. is planning a full retail and warehouse establishment at the location and expects to begin façade improvements shortly. Work approved to be done includes the addition of windows with painted metal awnings, skylights, a raised gable roof at the entrance, new decorative piers at the entrance, raised parapets, red roof coping, and painting the existing metal façade. To ensure the Oak Creek location storefront meets Steinhafels standards, an exterior finishing system will be added over the existing metal panels.  New signs will also be added to the building, and existing pole sign faces will be converted to the Steinhafels brand.  According to Kari Papelbon, city planner, the Oak Creek store will be similar to their Kenosha location.

Hoping to be open for business around start of 2015, Steinhafels foresees employing approximately 85 people in its new Oak Creek location. Currently, landscape improvements are proposed for the property but plans have not yet been submitted. All landscaping improvements are required to be approved by the Department of Community Development.
