CITY OF OAK CREEK
AD HOC CIVIC CENTER DESIGN STEERING COMMITTEE
Tuesday, February 26, 2008
- This meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.
- Present were Committee members: Sig Tomkalski, Isabel Haase, Cal Nowak, and Sam Lenda.
- Staff present: City Administrator Patrick DeGrave, City Engineer Wayne St. John, Information Technology Manager Caesar Geiger, Assistant Fire Chief Thomas Rosandich, City Librarian Ross Talis, and Personnel Specialist Marie Kreif.
- Review and approve minutes from February 5 meeting
- I. Haase made a motion to approve the minutes of February 5. C. Nowak seconded the motion. All aye; motion passed.
- Discuss information previously obtained on City Hall, Library, Fire Station
- C. Geiger presented a computerized map of the current site with the existing buildings and explained that one of the critical elements in this process is the continuation of operations during construction of the new structure(s), particularly communications (computers, telephones, etc.).
- The issue of a joint venture between MATC and the Library was on the Council agenda on March 4. This issue is no longer being considered.
- Another major factor is whether or not the Community Center would consider opening their lease for modifications. S. Tomkalski indicated that the Community Center Board was scheduled to meet the next day and he would bring up the topic.
- The group discussed alternative sites for Fire Station 1.
- S. Lenda suggested the possibility of putting the Community Center, City Hall, and Library all into one joined building above “the blue line” on the displayed map. It could be a multi-dimensional building with some parts 2-story and some 3-story. The group looked at alternative ways that the structures could be accommodated on the existing site.
- Establish next meeting date
- The group agreed to meet again on March 18 at 5:30 p.m.
P. DeGrave, seconded by C. Nowak, moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:40 p.m. All voted aye.
