BOARD OF HEALTH
May 3, 2007 @ 4:30 P.M.
City of Oak Creek City Hall – Solarium
- Roll Call: Called to Order by Chairman W. Kopplin at 4:32 PM. On roll call, the following members were present: Ald. B. Kopplin, S. Schneider, J. Price, D. Cammilleri RS: Guest: S. Wojcinski. Dr. M. D’Amico (arrived 4:40 PM) M. Zabkowicz (arrived 4:55 PM); Member L. Struhar was excused.
- Approval of Minutes – April 5, 2007 meeting. Motion by S. Schneider, seconded by J. Price; approved as written. All voted aye except Ald. B. Kopplin who was absent for last meeting; motion carried.
- Correspondence – J. Price read letter from the Milwaukee/Waukesha County Consortium for Emergency Public Health Preparedness. The letter addressed the issue of isolation and quarantine. A survey reveals that not all health agencies have local ordinances related to isolation and quarantine and those who had them were not detailed enough (see letter).
- Health Officer’s Report – Reviewed April Report (Attachment 1).
- City Sanitarian Report – D. Cammilleri, RS shared his report for April, 2007. He also shared many pictures from the restaurant inspections.
J. Price also was present during a few of the inspections.
- Medical Advisor Report – Dr. D’Amico: No further update regarding the discussion related the Quantiferon Gold test.
- Council Representative Report – Ald. B. Kopplin informed the Board that on May 1, 2007 the Common Council approved: 1) B. Kopplin had
been re-appointed as the Board of Health Representative, 2) 8.10(n) was approved, 3) approval of a TIF District, 4) Approval of Charter Ordinance No. 12 related to selection and tenure of City Clerk, and 5) Charter Ordinance No. 13 related to selection and tenure of City Treasurer.
- Old Business
- Ordinance 2450 & 2451 – Passed by Common Council on March 20, 2007.
- Agent Start-up Funds – Received check for $5,105 on March 1, 2007.
- School Nursing – J. Price asked the Board for a motion regarding the recommendation made via memo dated April 25, 2007, related to school screenings for the school year 2007-2008. Motion made to accept recommendation by S. Schneider, seconded by Dr. M. D’Amico. On roll call, the vote was as follows: W. Kopplin, aye; S. Schneider, aye; W. Zabkowicz, aye; J. Price, aye; B. Kopplin, aye; Dr. M. D’Amico, aye; and D. Cammilleri, aye.
- Sharps Containers – J. Price passed out information related to the increase cost for pick-up of containers. Tabled for further discussion.
- New Business
- Oak Creek 2006 Annual Report – J. Price passed out revised page
1-2. Ald. B. Kopplin, seconded by S. Schneider, moved to accept the Oak Creek Health Department 2006 Annual Report. On roll call, the vote was as follows: W. Kopplin, aye; S. Schneider, aye; M. Zabkowicz, aye; J. Price, aye; B. Kopplin, aye; Dr. M. D’Amico, aye; and
D. Cammilleri, aye.
- Human Health Hazard Ordinance – Tabled
- RS Back-Up – J. Price explained that she has contacted several other agents asking for an MOU for RS coverage. Only Caledonia / Mt. Pleasant stated they might be interested. North Shore declined and the others did not respond. Will continue dialogue with Caledonia / Mt. Pleasant Health Department.
- Isolation and Quarantine Ordinance – Discussed above.
- WI County Health Rankings 2006 – J. Price passed out copies; no discussion followed.
- Beach Water Testing – Will continue with existing relationship with S. Milwaukee.
- Emergency Contraceptive Pill Brochure – Discussion followed, will use Brochure as a resource and stock brochure rack (OC) with “It’s the Waiver!” Booklet.
- Next Meeting: June 7, 2007, at 4:30 or at call of chair. Location: Solarium.
- Adjournment – Ald. Kopplin, seconded by Dr. M. D’Amico, moved to adjourn this meeting at 5:40 PM. Passed unanimously.
