Personnel Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. 

Committee members present were Alderman Toman and Alderman Lampe.  Also present were City Administrator Patrick DeGrave, Mayor Richard Bolender, City Engineer Wayne St. John, and Finance Manager RoseAnn Underberg.  Terry Peterson, citizen Human Resource expert also took part in the interview process.

Item 2.  Review and approve minutes from previous meetings

Alderman Lampe made a motion to approve the minutes of July 24, June 29, June 6, and May 16.  Alderman Toman seconded the motion.  All aye; motion carried.

Item 3.  Consider tuition reimbursement requests

  1. T. Johnson (Fire) – American History
    2.       Item was held to the end of the year to see if funds are available.
  2. R. Carter (Police) Selected Topics in Admin. of Justice
    3.       Item was held to year end since it is for a Masters degree.
  3. J. Biggart (Fire) – Intro to Theater, Earth Science
    4.       Request approved subject to policy guidelines.
  4. J. Teichmiller (Fire) – Chemistry of Hazardous Materials and Fire Prevention, Inspection and Protective Systems
    5.       Request approved by the Committee, subject to approval by the Fire Chief.

Item 4.  To convene to executive session under Statutory authority 19.85(1)(c) to:

  1. interview candidates for the position of Street Superintendent

Item 5.  Reconvene in open session

Motion to reconvene to open session at 11:40 a.m. by Alderman Lampe.  Second to the motion by Alderman Toman.  Motion carried.

To take action on items discussed in closed session.

4a) Three candidates were interviewed.  One will be recommended to the Mayor for appointment to the position at the September 5th Council meeting.

Alderman Toman motioned to adjourn the meeting at 12:15 p.m.  Alderman Lampe seconded.  Motion carried.
