Mike will send the Legion a "Thank-You" letter.

Printing costs totaled $680. The legion was sent a letter requesting their payment- half of $680, minus $95 for our posters.

Next year, the marching bands will be at the beginning of the parade.

We need more than 15 minutes prior to the start of the parade for flag distribution. We need to ask the Lions to start at least 30 minutes prior, and/or we could get more volunteers to help with the flag distribution.

There were 72 parade participants this year. We will need to brainstorm at a future meeting about limiting the number, and what that number should be.

The letter that is sent to participants at the beginning of the year will state that participation will be on a 1st-come, 1st-serve basis; and if the group is not on our list (if they haven't sent in an application) they will not be allowed to participate.

Ice Cream & Cracker Jack
There was discussion about increasing the amounts next year; but we will not increase them; we'll stick with 4,000 ice creams and 3,000 cracker jacks.

Garbage Cans
We will need to increase the number of garbage cans next year; we need more around the Pavilion area. We also need to place them in areas where people are sitting.

Port-O-Pots
These were a success!

Bands - Next Year' Parade
Next year we'll send letters to the Pioneer Band, the Shriners (Myron) and Milwaukee Police & Fire Band.

Emails

  1. An email from the Shamrock Club voiced a number of complaints:
    1. their placement in the parade;
    2. the unfriendliness and rudeness of the "traffic staff;"
    3. their feeling was that Oak Creek does not make them feel welcome.
  2. New Berlin Eisenhower would like to participate in the parade next year.
  3. Patrick DeGrave complimented us (the team) on a "fantastic Independence Day celebration." He felt it was "well-organized, well attendee, the people were well-behaved, and the entertainment was terrific."

John Jagler. WTMJ News Radio
Announced on his radio show that he had participated in our parade and how impressed he was with Oak Creek and that event's organization.

Games
Dan O'Heron was disappointed with the way the games were handled. He wanted to held, but there was a lack of communication, consequently, he wasn't contacted. He also expressed concern about not receiving the car banner for the parade.

Parade Participants Who Want to Advertise
Should we charge a $500 fee? Charge Oak Creek business a lesser fee? Should we allow them Non-residents in?

The Committee will have to write By-Laws to address parade participation. Andie will contact other municipalities about their By-Laws.

Baseball Games
Can we move the games to a lighted diamond?

Softball Tournament
There have been a few requests to hold a softball tournament during the 4th's festivities.

July 5th Clean-Up
All Oak Creek part-timers are scheduled to do it this years. Next year letters will be sent to the cub scouts and brownies asking for their participation; and we'll offer them a $50 donation to their troup/pack, or breakfast at McDonald's as a "thank-you.."

Pig Roast
Tickets are available at City Hall, the Community Center, and St Francis Bank.

A sign-up sheet for the volunteers will be circulated.

Posters are available for distribution.

We will add St. Francis Bank, City Hall, and Oak Creek Community Center to the yard signs, advertising where tickets can be purchased.
