TRAFFIC AND SAFETY COMMISSION

Municipal Court Room-Oak Creek Police Station

 

1)         Members in Attendance

 

George Artka, Tom Rosandich, Michael Helgeson, Cliff Nelson, Mike Lampe, David Schneider, Alderman Thomas Michalski and Henry Jackson present.   

 

2)         Review of Minutes

 

Motion by George Artka and seconded by Mike Lampe to approve the minutes of November 9, 2005.  Motion passed.

 

3)               Old Business

 

A.    Discuss 6-month study for stop signs on S. Shepard Avenue at the intersection of E. Bridlewood Lane to create a 4-way stop.

 

      Two residents from the area spoke in favor of keeping the four-way stop. Commission members discussed and felt the four-way should be made permanent.

 

Motion made by George Artka and seconded by Dave Schneider to recommend that the temporary four-way stop at the S. Shepard Avenue and E. Bridlewood Lane intersection be made permanent.  Motion passed.

                       

4)               New Business

 

A.    Request to allow parking on S. 6th Street from April 1 to September 1 after 4 p.m. and on weekends and holidays in front of 7730 and 7760 S. 6th Street for the Little League overflow.

 

Discussion on lengths, times, hours, etc. was held by Commission members. Request has come from the Little League. It was felt that it could be done but it may take an ordinance change.

 

Motion made by Michael Helgeson and seconded by George Artka to recommend parking on S. 6th Street from April 1 to September 1 after 4 pm and on weekends and holidays at 7730 and 7760 S. 6th Street.  Motion passed.

 

B.     Request to allow temporary parking in front of 7616 S. 6th Street during building construction.

 

Discussion on the request by Foran Spice to allow temporary parking during initial construction of a new addition until parking on site can be provided.  Foran representative indicated a three-week time period. Motion – I failed to record who motioned and seconded.  Motion passed.   

 

C.    Discuss the intersection of S. 20th Street and W. Ryan Road and the new Pick N’ Save entrance on W. Ryan Road.

 

Motion made by Mike Lampe and seconded by Tom Rosandich to request WisDOT perform a traffic study for the new Pick-N-Save on W. Ryan Road. Motion passed.

 

5)               Adjournment

 

Motion by Mike Lampe and seconded by Dave Schneider to adjourn.  Motion passed.
