The March 9, 2006, Oak Creek Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission meeting was called to order at 6:04 p.m. by Chairperson Janet Fluegel
The minutes from the January 26, 2006, meeting was approved on a motion made by Ann Lampe and seconded by Pete Wagner. All aye; motion carried.
The financial statements and claims January 2006 were approved on a motion made by Marianne Dickmann and seconded by Dan Jahn. All aye; motion carried.
Review 2006 Fees & Charges
Mary Jane Trate, Recreation Supervisor, explained to the Commission the process of how fees & charges are determined and how they are set to cover direct expenses (staff, equipment, materials, facility charges and admission fees for the playground programs) for the recreation programs. Marianne Dickmann made a motion to approve the recommended fees and charges as stated, seconded by Pete Wagner. All aye; motion carried.
Request to Review Locations of Proposed Open Air Shelters (Riverton Meadows, Otjen & South Hills Parks)
After review of the shelter location proposals in each park, Ann Lampe moved to approve the locations as proposed, seconded by Marianne Dickmann. All aye; motion carried
Request to Make Changes to Forestry’s Private Tree Policy
After review by the Commission, Dan Jahn moved to approve the changes made to the Forestry’s Private Tree Policy, seconded by Marianne Dickmann. All aye; motion carried.
Abendschein Community Park-Prioritize Park Facilities for Phase I Development
The Director provided the Commission with cost estimates for various facility development and two separate development options for Abendschein Park. The Director will send an updated copy of the site plan of Abendschein Park to Commissioners. Commissioners will review the two options, along with considering other possible options, and discuss further at the April meeting.
Major League Diamondball (Kickball) Team Requests Use of Abendschein Park Baseball Diamond
No action taken, may consider in the future.
Miller Park Pond Fish Stocking-Discuss Early Rainbow Trout Stocking & Urban Fishing Program
The special fishing season for children 15 & under and disabled will be offered from March 11 – April 28. Five hundred trout will be stocked in Henry Miller Park Pond in early April.
