2006 Park & Open Space Plan Update
Progress on the 2006 Park & Open Space Plan is proceeding slow due to the budget process. The park facilities spreadsheet, goals achieved summary, background information on the plans/parks, neighborhood population figures and the current park information has been updated. After the budget process is completed, we will resume working on the Park & Open Space Plan and hope to complete it by the end of 2006, and take it to the commission, public hearing and Council in early 2007.
Objectives Progress Report
The Parks, Recreation & Forestry annual Objectives Progress/Status Report was summarized and discussed. The Director informed the commission that all city departments will perform a revenue analysis in early 2007 (January-March).
2007 Proposed Budget: Update
The Director updated the Commission on the 2007 budget process. The Final CIP/CEP meeting will be held on Monday, October 16, 2006. The 2007 budget goes to public hearing on November 13, 2007.
Dogs Allowed in City Parks
The Director informed the Commission that he received a phone call complaint regarding dogs being allowed in city parks. The director discussed the various ordinances regarding animal regulations with the resident, told the person he would put the item on the October Commission agenda and invited the person to the meeting or to send him a letter outlining the person’s views/objections. The resident did neither. After review of a recent “dogs in parks survey” distributed by the Director and further discussion, the Commission felt there was no need for an ordinance change at this time.
Fall Recreation Report
There was no discussion on the fall recreation report. The Director informed the commission that it was hopeful that the WebTrac (online registration) software would be installed for winter program registration.
