Municipal Court Room-Oak Creek Police Station

1)         Members in Attendance

Brian Murphy for George Artka, David Schneider, Alderman Steve Jonas, Tom Rosandich, Michael Helgeson and Henry Jackson were present. Bill Schaper, Cliff Nelson and George Artka had excused absences.

2)         Review of Minutes

Motion made by Tom Rosandich and seconded by Steve Jonas to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2005 meeting.  Motion passed.

3)               Old Business

A.               None

4)               New Business

A.     Discuss the possibility of stop sign requests going directly to the Council.

Committee members discussed merits of sending stop sign requests directly on to Common Council, in light of the fact that, at the last two meetings, the Council approved stop sign installations after the Traffic and Safety Committee had recommended against them. Committee members feel that we should continue to do so to provide the technical expertise and consistent application of the Uniform Traffic Manual requirements. No recommendation motion required.

B.     Discuss the possibility of lowering the speed limit to 25 mph from 30 mph on E. Centennial Drive from S. Shepard Avenue to S. Howell Avenue.

Committee members agreed that there should be no speed limit reduction from the existing 30mph on Centennial Drive, S. Shepard Avenue to S. Howell Avenue. No recommendation motion required.

5)               Adjournment

Motion made by Steve Jonas and seconded by Dave Schneider to adjourn.  Motion passed.

Respectfully submitted,

Henry W. Jackson

Secretary, Traffic and Safety Commission
