MINUTES - BOARD OF HEALTH

December 14, 2005 @ 4:30 P.M.

City of Oak Creek City Hall – Common Council Chambers

1. Roll Call: Called to Order by J. Alles at 4:40 PM.

Present: J. Alles, J. DeVita, M. Zabkowicz, Dr. M. D’Amico,
               S. Wojcinski, S. Schneider, Ald. B. Kopplin

Excused: R. Zapp, D. Schier,

2. Approval of Minutes – October 12, 2005 meeting. Motion by Dr. M. D’Amico, seconded by J. DeVita, and approved as written.

3. Correspondence – Copy of “Wisconsin Legislative Issues of Interest 2005-2006 Sessions” (provided to local health departments by WPHA/WALHDAB.)  Copy of NALBOH NewsBrief article “Environmental Health & Emergency Preparedness”.

4. CPHA Report – As printed.

5. City Sanitarian Report – Discussion review of meeting with State Sanitarian, Scott Vesely. Discussion of job description for sanitarian. This item will be further researched.

6. Medical Advisor Report – Flu vaccine update.

7. Council Representative Report – no report.

8. Old Business

a.   Information regarding sanitarian duties/role of the state agent. It was suggested to look at the safety of programs in Oak Creek as development and expansion occur. Options were discussed and a meeting with the Common Council is to be planned.

b.   Update on grants as recorded in the CPHA report.

9. New Business

a.   Tdap vaccine. The State has approved the availability of Tdap for adolescents. Due to supply the vaccine will be phased in. Other facilities are already using the product. Will administer when available.

b.   Approval of Memorandum of Understanding for Lead Hazards. Several corrections to the MOU were directed by the Health Officer of South Milwaukee. Changes regarded the fiscal implications and service subject to staff availability as workload permits. This MOU was previously approved by the City Attorney. Approve the MOU after review by City Attorney to send to the Common Council with corrections – motion by Ald. Kopplin, seconded by S. Schneider, approved.

c.   Approval of Memorandum of Understanding for Beach Water Testing. Several corrections to the MOU were directed by the Health Officer of South Milwaukee. Changes regarded the fiscal implications due to additional testing based on the status of the water and delineation of service provider. This MOU was previously approved by the City Attorney. Approve the MOU after review by City Attorney to send to the Common Council with corrections – motion by Ald. Kopplin, seconded by S. Schneider, approved.

10. Next Meetings: February 8, 2006, @ 4:30PM or at call of chair.

11. Adjournment. Motion by Dr. D’Amico, seconded by S. Schneider, and approved to adjourn at 5:38 PM.
