TRAFFIC AND SAFETY COMMISSION

Municipal Court Room-Oak Creek Police Station

 

1)         Members in Attendance

 

George Artka, Cliff Nelson, Tom Rosandich, Henry Jackson, and Bill Shaper were present.   Ann Lampe, David Schneider not present with excused absences.

 

2)         Review of Minutes

 

Motion made by Tom Rosandich and seconded by George Artka to approve the minutes of the December 8, 2004 meeting.  Motion passed.

 

3)               Old Business

 

A.        None

 

4)         New Business

 

A.    Request for No Parking anytime along the North side of W. Aspen Drive around the curve from S. Aspen Drive.

 

Four residents in attendance. Three spoke in favor, one spoke against. Henry Jackson read a letter from Amy Hildebrandt requesting the signs and a letter from Frank Greish against the signs. This request was before the Traffic and Safety Committee in March, 2002, at which time the Committee voted denial. 

 

Bill Shaper made a motion to deny the request at this time and re-visit the issue in Spring when street parking regulations are lifted. George Artka seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

 

B.    Request to change the No Parking Anytime to allow parking along S. 22nd Street adjacent to the South Hills Park.

 

Tom Rosandich made a motion to remove the No Parking Anytime signs on the west side of S. 22nd Street adjacent South Hills Park. Bill Shaper seconded. Motion passed.

 

C.    Discuss the truck movements along Ryan Road around the I-94 interchange.

 

Brief discussion on truck traffic in and around Ryan Road and I-94. Henry Jackson reviewed a letter from Jennifer Nuss in which she related a car/truck accident she witnessed in the area and asked if something could be done to better control truck traffic at Ryan Road and I-94. City has made this known to WisDOT, who has control over the freeway and interchange. 

 

5.               Adjournment

 

Motion made by Bill Shaper and seconded by Tom Rosendich to adjourn. Motion passed.
