The meeting was called to order by Marge Kanar. The following committee members were present at roll call: Marge Kanar, Alderman Dimity Grabowski, Marie Myszkowski, Jim Iwinski, Dennis Stefanik, and Doug Seymour, Director of Community Development. Mayor Bolender, Jim Ruetz and Chuck Koehler were absent.
Grabowski motioned for approval of the minutes of January 7, 2004. Iwinski second. Minutes approved.
Item No. 2 - Review draft request for proposals for 27th Street study area
Iwinski motioned to forward the draft RFP to the Common Council. Myszkowski second. Motion carried.
Doug Seymour explained that he will take this to the next Council meeting to release the RFP and there will be a deadline date for responses, which we will bring back to the CDA.
Item No. 3 - Review a request by SECUB to modify existing entrance signs to include business names
Dennis Stefanik motioned to approve that SECUB take charge in modifying the existing entrance sign at Southbranch Industrial Park. Alderman Grabowski second. Dennis Stefanik aye, Jim Iwinski aye, Marie Myszkowski no, Alderman Grabowski aye, Marge Kanar aye. Motioned approved.
Item No. 4 – Request to have banners placed along Centennial Drive
The CDA agreed not allow Wimmer Bros. to place banners along Centennial Drive.
Item No. 5 – Request to have Oak Creek banners placed past the intersection at Howell and Hwy 100
Bill Schaper stated that his 2004 budget for banners has been cut. He stated that up until this year there has been money in the budget for repairs for banners. Alderman.Grabowski motioned that the CDA send to Council a recommendation for funding and repairs and or replacements for flags and banners. Marie Myszkowski second. Motion passed. Doug Seymour stated he will send a memo to the acting City Administrator and the Mayor saying that the CDA has approved a motion requesting that the Common Council fund maintenance for repair and replacement of flags and banners as part of the operating budget.
Item No. 6 – Discuss setting up a meeting with Franklin EDC to introduce the Oak Creek CDA members
The agenda for the April 21, 2004 was distributed.
Item No. 7 – Economic development issues
Discussion on marketing the City of Oak Creek
A detailed proposal with the cost and implementation regarding tins filled with a dozen Melody cookies will be presented to the CDA by Doug Seymour and Jenny Polachowski at the next CDA meeting.
Alderman Grabowski motioned for adjournment. Dennis Stefanik second. Motion approved.
