Personnel Committee Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, December 14, 2004

The meeting was called to order at 3:45 p.m.  Committee members present were Alderman Lampe, Alderman Toman, and Alderman Kopplin.  Also present was City Administrator Barbara Blumenfield, Wayne St. John, Mike Marvell, Melody Schwartz, Dave Laehn and Rob Buikema.

Item 2.  Consider tuition reimbursement requests

Alderman Toman made a motion to approve the requests of Firefighter Jendusa and Captain Pulvermacher.  Alderman Lampe seconded the motion.  On a roll call vote, all voted aye.

Item 3.  Alderman Kopplin made a motion to enter Executive Session pursuant to Wisconsin State Statutes Section 19.85(1)(c) and (f) for:

a.  Hear Local 133 AFSCME grievance #04-004

b.   Discuss and consider approval to hire Plumbing/Building Inspector

Alderman Lampe seconded the motion.  On roll call:  Alderman Lampe aye, Alderman Toman aye, Alderman Kopplin aye.

Item 4.  Alderman Kopplin, seconded by Alderman Toman, made a motion to reconvene into Open Session at 4:45 p.m.  All aye; motion carried. 

a.   Alderman Kopplin made a motion to deny the grievance.  Alderman Toman seconded the motion.  All aye; motion carried.

b.   The item will be put on the December 21^st Council agenda with the Personnel Committee’s recommendation that an offer to hire be extended contingent upon the applicant passing the pre-employment physical.

Alderman Kopplin made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:48 p.m.  Alderman Toman seconded the motion.  All aye; motion carried.
