TRAFFIC AND SAFETY COMMISSION

Oak Creek City Hall

 

1)        Members in Attendance

 

George Artka, Ann Lampe, Cliff Nelson, Tom Rosandich, Henry Jackson, were present.   David Schneider, Bob Anderson and Bill Schaper were not present.

 

2)        Review of Minutes

 

The minutes of the September 8 and September 27, 2004 meetings were approved on a motion by Tom Rosandich.  Seconded by George Artka.  Motion passed.

 

3)              Old Business

 

A.    The 6-month study has been completed on the stop signs on Quincy Drive and Monroe Avenue. Committee decided to extend data collection for another six months.

 

B.    Request for a right turn only lane on E. Drexel Avenue at the intersection of S. Verdev Drive.  The accident reports have been pulled for the intersection for the past 3 years and there was 1 accident reported. Committee asked that this be put on the November meeting agenda and that City resident named Podell be notified personally and/or by certified mail.

 

C.    The City has received a permit application from Milwaukee County for the No Engine Braking Signs along S. 13th Street at W. Oakwood Road. Installation to be made and consideration be given to making it a Citywide requirement via ordinance. 

 

D.    The City has received a couple of requests for noise barriers along the Interstate.  Any residence constructed after 1989 would not be eligible for noise abatement.  This is consistent with the Federal Highway Administration Policies. Committee reaffirmed this policy.

 

4)        New Business

 

A.    Tom Rosandich made a motion to deny a westbound E. Kender Lane at S. Shire Place.  Cliff Nelson seconded.  Motion passed.

 

B.    Tom Rosandich made a motion to change the existing “No Parking on school days from 8:00 to 10:00 am” on S. Oak Park Drive from E. Puetz Road to No Parking on S. Oak Park Drive from E. Puetz Road to one hundred feet (100’) south. Ann Lampe seconded. Motion passed.

 

           

 

C.    Request for No Parking between signs to maintain the sidewalk entrance at 155 W. Oak Leaf Drive

 

George Artka made a motion to install - No Parking between Signs - signs at 155 W. Oak Leaf Drive. Ann Lampe seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

 

D.    Request for No Parking signs at the intersection of E. Honeysuckle Drive and S. Orchard View Lane.

           

      George Artka made a motion to deny the No Parking signs at the intersection of E. Honeysuckle Drive and S. Orchard View Lane. Cliff Nelson seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

 

5.               Adjournment

 

Cliff Nelson moved to adjourn the Traffic and Safety Commission meeting.  Seconded by Tom Rosandich.   Motion passed.
