Personnel Committee Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, September 30, 2003

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.  Committee members present were Alderman Lampe, Alderman Kopplin and Alderman Toman.  Also present was Robert Kufrin, Steve Yttri, Fred Siepert, Jerry Hammernik, Tom Bauer, Caesar Geiger, Doug Seymour, Doug Schachtner, Rebecca Lane and Marie Pellett.

Item 2.  Review and consider approval of minutes

No minutes were available.

Item 3.  Review and consider tuition reimbursement requests

No requests were submitted for review.

Item 4.  Discuss current vacancies, staffing needs for 2004 and various personnel issues

The committee heard requests from the following departments:  Police, Fire, Community Development, Data Processing, and Parks, Recreation and Forestry.

Alderman Lampe made a motion to recommend to Council during the budget process the proposed Community Development/Data Processing staffing plan changes.  Alderman Toman seconded the motion.  All aye; motion carried.  No action was taken on any other requests which will be further discussed at the October 2nd meeting.

Item 5.  The Committee went into Executive Session at approximately 6:40 p.m. pursuant to Wisconsin State Statutes Section 19.85(1)(c) and (e) for:

  1. Bargain with Police Officers
  2. Discuss bargaining strategy with Utility Commission
  3. Discuss Police Clerk Dispatcher bargaining strategy

Item 6.  The committee reconvened into Open Session at approximately 7:10 p.m. to take action on any or all Executive Session items.

  1. No bargaining took place.
  2. No action was taken.
  3. No action was taken.

The meeting ended at 9:20 p.m.
