MINUTES – BOARD OF HEALTH

COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PLAN MEETING

 

 

1. Welcome and Introductions.

    Representatives attended from:

       Board of Health – P. Lea Monahan, Deborah Schier, John Alles,

          Alderman Chuck Koehler

       Health Department –Sue Wojcinski, Mariana Liebsch, Patty Glatch,

          Mary Lee Barrett, Jackie Benka, Sherri Melotik 

       Community members – LaMar Buchholz, Doug Rottel,

David Shekoski, Judith Wille, Andrew Bailey, Tim Beyer, Donald,

Trudy Theoharris, Sue Miller, Janet Hansen, Pat Bruss-Horswill,

Sally Schleicher

2. Discussion of grant requirements. These meetings with resultive plan is a

     Federal requirement for the Health Department to continue receiving

     Prevention Block Grant funds.  Contract objective details distributed.

3. Core Public Health Functions reviewed.

          Assessment

          Policy Development

          Assurance

4. Current Activities briefly presented:

          Board of Health

          Immunizations

          Home Visits

          School Health

          Other activities of Health Department

5. Healthiest Wisconsin 2010 health priorities presented.

6. Tobacco Coalition activities outlined.

7. Discussion of Communities’ plans – changing to proactive instead of

     reactive.

8. Statistics

            Census demographics

            Healthier Communities Initiative results - all to review report prior to

next meeting.

            Causes of death – Oak Creek specific

            Aurora Health Care to do yearly adult health phone assessments.

9. Question and Answer period – inquiries regarding smallpox vaccination,

          Department on Aging survey, and use of statistics were discussed.

          Handouts on the various topics and statistics were made available.

10. Announcement of next meeting to be held  - March 20, 2003, 6:45-

          8:45 PM,  for the purpose of analyzing data and identifying priorities.

          Work groups will be formed to begin planning action steps.
