CITY OF OAK CREEK PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION

Thursday, August 22, 2002

Alderperson Ann Lampe, Del Nirode, Sandra Herte, Greg Lampe, Jodie Nelson, Janet Fluegel, Paul Sigler, & Douglas Schachtner (Director of Parks & Recreation) were in attendance. Marianne Dickmann was absent.

The Oak Creek Parks & Recreation Commission meeting was held at Oak Creek City Hall-Solarium Conference Room, Oak Creek, on Thursday, August 22, 2002. Chairperson Del Nirode called the meeting to order at 6:09 PM.

The minutes from the June 13, 2002, meeting was approved on a motion made by Ann Lampe and seconded by Paul Sigler. All aye; motion carried.

The financial statements and claims for the months of June and July 2002 were approved on a motion made by Greg Lampe and seconded by Sandra Herte. All aye; motion carried.

June Objectives Progress Report

The Director reviewed the June Objectives and Progress Report with the Commission. Much progress has been made toward initiating and/or completing most 2002 budgeted capital improvement projects.

The Department feels there was an immense improvement in the delivery of seasonal recreation booklets to residents by using the U.S. Postal Service.

The Director is looking into signage for Miller Park regarding keeping your dog leashed, pick up after your dog and do not feed the waterfowl.

2003 Proposed Budget

Guidelines for the 2003 Proposed Budget were mailed to Commissioners. Department budget requests for 2003 should not reflect any increases in services or programs. Budget requests were to hold all spending increases to 0%, if possible. Additional budget proposals that reflect up to a 10% in service cuts were to be submitted as well.

The Director informed the Commission that he would also be submitting various personnel requests for 2003 that indicate the need for various salary adjustments and additional staffing.

The proposed 2003 CIP/CEP budget was reviewed in depth by the Director.

Budget cut priorities were discussed by the Commission. The Director said the entire 2003 proposed budget will be sent to the Commission for review prior to the next commission meeting.

Park Development

Park development was discussed with the "2003 Proposed Budget" and "June Objectives Progress Report" agenda items. No further discussion.

Janet Fluegel made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:06 PM. Seconded by Jodie Nelson. All aye, motion carried.

Paul Sigler made a motion to reconvene the meeting at 7:08 PM. Seconded by Ann Lampe. All aye, motion carried.

Janet Fluegel made a motion to not have a meeting in September unless it was a "Call of the Chair". Seconded by Paul Sigler. All aye, motion carried.

Ann Lampe made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:09 PM. Seconded by Jodie Nelson. All aye, motion carried.
