CITY OF OAK CREEK PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
Thursday, June 13, 2002
Alderperson Ann Lampe, Del Nirode, Sandra Herte, Marianne Dickmann, Greg Lampe, Jodie Nelson, Janet Fluegel, Paul Sigler, Mary Jane Trate (Recreation Supervisor) , Debbie Lukasik (Secretary) & Douglas Schachtner (Director of Parks & Recreation) were in attendance.
The Oak Creek Parks & Recreation Commission meeting was held at Miller Park Pavilion, 315 E. Groveland, Oak Creek, on Thursday, June 13, 2002. Chairperson Del Nirode called the meeting to order at 6 PM.
The minutes from the March 14, 2002, meeting was approved on a motion made by Marianne Dickmann and seconded by Greg Lampe. All aye; motion carried.
The financial statements and claims for the months of March, April and May 2002 were approved on a motion made by Janet Fluegel and seconded by Paul Sigler. All aye; motion carried.
Election of Parks & Recreation Commission Officers
Paul Sigler made a motion to nominate Del Nirode as the Chairperson and Janet Fluegel as the secretary for the 2002-2003 Parks & Recreation Commission. Seconded by Sandra Herte. All aye, motion carried.
July/August Meeting Dates
Jodie Nelson made a motion that the July meeting date would be a call of the chair and that on August 22 at 6 PM there will be a commission meeting held to discuss the 2003 budget. Seconded by Janet Fluegel. All aye, motion carried.
Canadian Geese Control/Management at Miller Park-Discuss
After some discussion on options regarding Canadian Geese control and management at Miller Park, Marianne Dickmann made a motion to research initiating the Dog Patrol at Miller Park. Seconded by Jodie Nelson. All aye, motion carried.
Miller Park Pond Fish Stocking
The Director is going to be looking into creating an ordinance for specific dates, possibly in early June, to restrict fishing for children only. Recently 100 perch and 100 hybrid bluegills were released into Miller Park Pond by the Milwaukee County House of Correction.
Park Development-Update 2002 C.E.P/C.I.P. Projects
The Director updated the Commission on the status of the Skateboard Advocacy Committee, Otjen Park asphalt and play structure, development of Oak Park, Riverton Meadow pathway, Carollton tennis court reconstruction and Meadowview open air shelter.
Recreation Programs
The Commission packet included a copy of the summer recreation report.
Special Facility Reservation Request-School District Use of Abendschein Soccer Field
The Oak Creek-Franklin School District requested use of Abendschein soccer field for the fall 2002 and spring 2003 JV soccer programs due to renovation of the West Middle soccer fields.
