City of Oak Creek City Hall – Council Chambers
1. Roll Call: Called to Order by D. Schier
Present: D. Schier, Dr. M. D'Amico, J. Alles, A. Biesek, and S. Gagas
Excused: L. Monahan and N. Osgood
2. Approval of Minutes: November 1, 2001. Motion by J. Alles, seconded by A. Biesek and approved as printed.
3. Correspondence – None.
4. CPHA Report - As printed.
5. City Sanitarian Report - "Doing the everyday stuff," will be starting restaurant
inspections.
6. Medical Advisor Report - Discussed changes in physicians in area and the Health Expo to be held March 16th.
7. Council Representative Report - no council rep at this time.
8. Meetings Attended by Board Members - None.
9. Old Business
a. Updates on grant activities: MCH/Prevention, Immunization, Tobacco Control, etc. – D. Schier distributed copies of MC/Prevention annual report to the state.
b. Update on nursing services as provided to the Oak Creek/Franklin School District: we have not received the contract from the school district as yet. Discussion of the duties PHN’s perform in the schools as to if they were school duties vs. PHN duties. D. Schier to contact the schools so that the board has the contract to approve by a special board meeting in March.
c. Water testing at Bender Park – Update given by D. Schier as to grant program of MMSD. The board will discuss baseline testing at its next meeting.
10. New Business
a. Approval of Resolution to Reduce Youth Smoking, as presented by the Cancer Society – No action taken. Members discussed the fact that if the cigarette tax is increased, people will obtain cigarettes tax free through mail order, etc.
b. Discussion of the Governor’s proposed budget and implications for the health department – informational item only.
11. Next Meeting: March 7, 2002. Per board members present – there will be no
meeting in April, but we will also meet on May 2, 2002.
