OAK CREEK ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF DECEMBER 6, 2001
The Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. Roll was taken and the following members were present: Cavil, Havey and Lane.
The meeting opened with an announcement of the resignation of Judy Camfora.
Next the group reviewed WIN project information updates including:
1. An excerpt from "Economic Benefits of Runoff Controls" titled "Tangible results and how they can be measured," provided by Cavil.
2. Wet prairie plant mixtures and estimated seed cost, also provided by Cavil.
3. Updates on potential quantitative testing as a measurement tool to achieve one WIN project objective from WIN staff guidance.
a. Sedimentation measurement
b. Dissolved oxygen measurement
c. Wildlife log.
Each test would be based on improved water quality over time with consistent testing (perhaps monthly). The committee awaits materials from various watershed-related agencies on testing parameters and comparable project plans.
4. Potential plant gathering from County land or scheduled developing areas is still pending.
5. Lane awaits a return call from MMSD regarding removal of large tree (cause of creek washout) from the Oak Creek in Abendschein.
The minutes of October 28, 2001 (should have been October 27, 2001) were briefly discussed. Cavil motioned a motion to approve them. Havey seconded the motion and the minutes were unanimously approved.
The next meeting was scheduled for Saturday, January 5, 2002 at 1:00 p.m., at the public library.
The meeting adjourned at 5:10 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Rebecca Lane
