COUNCIL PROCLAMATION NO. 08-04

CONGRATULATIONS
TO
TONY GERASCH

WHEREAS, the Oak Creek Citizen of the Year Committee conducts an annual search for the person who, in its judgment, is most deserving of acknowledgment because of loyal, unselfish and patriotic service to the community; and

WHEREAS, the Oak Creek Citizen of the Year Committee has selected Tony Gerasch as its 2008 Citizen of the Year, for which he will be duly honored at a recognition dinner on Friday, May 16, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Tony Gerasch, a resident of Oak Creek for 25 years, is married to his wife Jean, and has a daughter Mary, and a son David; and

WHEREAS, Tony Gerasch is an active volunteer with the Family Readiness Program for the Army Reserve Band, sets up the summer picnic for soldiers and their families, along with coordinating a Christmas program; has volunteered for the last 16 years at the Community Center’s Septembeer Fest; was a Cub Scout Leader; the founder and organizer of the “Men in Black”, a group of dads who haul and set up equipment for the Oak Creek High School band competition, and maintain a scholarship fund for band students; volunteers every June for a women’s cancer fundraiser, which raised $2,500 in the last two years; and participates in National Night Out; and

WHEREAS, Tony Gerasch has rendered countless hours of community service, and has touched the lives of so many.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek hereby congratulate Tony Gerasch on being selected the 2008 Oak Creek Citizen of the Year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this proclamation be spread upon the minutes of this meeting and that the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to transmit a suitable copy thereof to Tony Gerasch.
