Recommendation:  That the Common Council adopts Resolution No. 10857-041508, a resolution accepting the recommendations of the CIP Committee to authorize the S. Howell Avenue sidewalk improvement projects listed below.

 

Background:  On April 7, 2008, the CIP Committee discussed the incomplete sidewalk segments along S. Howell Avenue and recommended the following sidewalk segments for construction under public contract.  The Engineering Department would prepare the plans, specifications and bid documents.

Fiscal Impact:  $75,000 was budgeted for “Unspecified Sidewalks” in the 2008 CIP and the remainder would be transferred from “Unspecified Streets” account.

            WHEREAS, the City Engineer has approved preliminary plans and specifications for said improvements.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oak Creek as follows:

 

1.            That the aforementioned improvements be installed.

 

2.            That payment for said improvements shall be made from funds in the “Unspecified New Segment Sidewalk” control account and CIP funds reserved in the 2008 budget.

 

3.            That the City Engineer is hereby authorized to approve final plans and specifications upon their completion.

 

4.         That the City Clerk is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for said improvements and that she shall advertise for such bids in the official newspaper, the Western Builder and the Daily Reporter.

            Introduced at a regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Oak Creek held this 15th day of April, 2008.
