Recommendation:  That the Common Council adopt Resolution No. 10830-021808 , a Resolution of Appreciation to James A. Liegler, retiring Police Officer.

 

 

 

Background: James A. Liegler served the City of Oak Creek Police Department for 29 years and 7 months, and his career dictates that he be honored with this Resolution of Appreciation.

RESOLUTION NO. 10830-021808

BY:  COMMITTEE AS A WHOLE

 

RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION

TO

JAMES A. LIEGLER

 

WHEREAS, James A. Liegler began his employment with the City of Oak Creek on July 3, 1978, as a full-time Police Officer; and

 

WHEREAS, James A. Liegler has been a valuable employee during his years of dedicated service with the Oak Creek Police Department, always striving to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of the City; and

 

WHEREAS, during his years of service, James A. Liegler was an integral part of the patrol operations of the Oak Creek Police Department. He responded to many serious incidents, handling them in a diligent and professional manner; and

 

WHEREAS, James A. Liegler was an important part of the Oak Creek Police Department’s first Drug Enforcement Unit. He was also an original DARE officer, well known and respected for his ability to speak with kids on drug abuse. James A. Liegler became a member of the venerated group of Use of Force Instructors, training and certifying officers in Defense and Arrest Tactics; and

 

WHEREAS, James A. Liegler, because of his experience, demeanor and ability to work with others, became an effective and valued Circuit Court Liaison Officer. During the course of this assignment, he enhanced the quality of case files presented to the District Attorney; and

 

WHEREAS, James A. Liegler was an effective and respected Oak Creek Professional Police Association President gaining recognition from the Personnel Committee and City Administrator for his ability to build consensus between the Union and the City; and

 

WHEREAS, James A. Liegler has retired from his position of Police Officer with the Oak Creek Police Department after completing 29 years and 7 months of full-time service.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek, for and on behalf of the citizens of the City of Oak Creek, that sincere gratitude and appreciation be extended to James A. Liegler for his years of dedicated and faithful service to the City of Oak Creek and the Police Department, that the best wishes for good health and happiness be extended to James A. Liegler and his family for future years.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting and that the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a suitable copy thereof to James A. Liegler.
