City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: January 15, 2008
Item No.:
Recommendation: That the Common Council approve the recommendation of the Street Superintendent to purchase one (1) 2008 20-yard rubbish truck from Stepp Equipment in the amount of $120,095.00, minus $6,000.00, for a total of $114,095.00.
Background: The Street Department advertised for bids for a current model 20-yard Rubbish Truck. The new garbage truck will replace a 1991 International with 112,750 miles and rusting out in several locations, including the sides of the box and the sides and rails in the rear hopper. The bid from Stepp Equipment was the lowest of the bids that met all of the specifications; they will also give the city $6,000.00 for a trade in of the 1991 International Garbage truck. This new truck will be used for special pick-ups; spring and fall clean up; it will also be placed in the recycling yard and used for larger items that are brought in by residents. The new truck will also be equipped with a tipper mounted on the rear of the hopper enabling us to dump the residential carts in the event of mechanical problems with any of the side loading garbage trucks and the holiday extra pickups. We received a total of nine (9) bids from four different vendors.
