City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: August 6, 2007
Item No.: 14
Recommendation: To initiate discussion among the Mayor and Common Council relative to the redevelopment of the intersection of Drexel Avenue and Howell Avenue.
Background: Published reports indicate that the Oak Creek Delphi facility is a candidate for closure. Although no official acknowledgement of that has been received, it is prudent that the City start thinking about the impact that such a closure would have on the community.
Looking forward, it is logical to presume that all or portions of the property containing the existing facilities will be available for redevelopment. As such, Alderman Verhalen has requested that the Council initiate the discussion regarding what might be appropriate for redevelopment of these properties.
The Community Development Authority also had a brief discussion on this topic at their last meeting. Minutes of that portion of the meeting are included with this Council report.
Fiscal Impact: None.
