City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: July 02, 2007
Item No.:
Recommendation: That the Common Council approves the use of funds from project #04028 and the 2004 Control Account to purchase one (1) 2007, 5 yard Dump Truck complete with plow equipment and spreader. Lakeside International was the low bidder with the bids that were sent out in February of 2007. Lakeside International has agreed to give us the same price from the original bid for the chassis, but we would have to add $1,250.00 for the work on the box due to the higher cost of steel. The total cost for the truck would be $102,531.00 if we order by July 06, 2007
Background: Upon inspection by the Street Department Mechanics we have found that the frame on a front line truck # 21 is cracked on both sides back by the springs, one crack being 48” long and the other 32”. Truck # 21 is a 1992 International with approximately 72,000 miles. The cracks can not be welded this time to get us by temporarily so a new truck will have to be ordered. We currently are using two (2) trucks that have small cracks in their frames that we were able to weld. Those trucks will have to be replaced in 2008.
Fiscal Impact: Funds are available in Project # 04028 in the amount of $49,892.00 from the 2004 roof repair project and the remaining amount of $52,639.00 is available in the 2004 Control Account
