City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: June 5, 2007
Item No.:
Recommendation: That the Common Council concur with the recommendation of the Street Superintendent and approve the usage of money from the 2003 CIP/CEP account project # 03024. For the purchase of four (4) camera sets for the garbage trucks.
Background: The Street Department garbage trucks that we are currently using are in need of new Cameras. The trucks were originally delivered with a camera system that could only accommodate two cameras. Due to the fact that the department now only picks up garbage with the automatic system, we need more cameras to cover all the areas viewed. We now have a camera on the back of the truck, and one in the hopper we would need to add one to the passenger side of the truck by the pick up arm. This will enable the driver to see the arm from the driver’s seat and not be looking back over his/her right shoulder. The camera systems are $1875.00 each with the total for 4 sets at $7,500.00
Fiscal Impact: Remaining Funds are available in Project # 03024 to cover the $7,500.00 expense.
