City of Oak Creek

Common Council Report

Meeting DateMay 15, 2007

Item No.:

Recommendation:  That the Common Council discuss a request for the installation of a water main tap and lateral to the property line at 9327 S. Shepard Ave., the Oelschlaeger-Dallmann American Legion Post 434.

Background:  Ald. Verhalen asked for this topic to be placed on the agenda for discussion.  He has been approached by representative from the Oelschlaeger-Dallmann American Legion Post 434 seeking help in extending a water main on to their site to service a new hydrant.  The Post is not ready to install the hydrant at this time but is exploring the economies of scale in installing the main tap and lateral simultaneous to work on the main in connection with construction of the new East Middle School.

At this time the exact location of the water main connection to the new East Middle School is not known, nor is it known where the Post will want their lateral.  However, with the information known at this time, it is unlikely there will be economies of scale in doing this work in conjunction with the School District.

Fiscal Impact:  The cost to the City to install this material would range from $7,000 if the road is opened for installation to $14,000 if the lateral is bored under the road.
