City of Oak Creek

Common Council Report

Meeting DateApril 17, 2007

Item No.:

Recommendation:  That the Council hold Ordinance 2455 and refer the zoning text amendment to the Plan Commission for review and recommendation.

Background: In 2006 the Common Council created the position of Zoning Administrator.  The Zoning Administrator is responsible for enforcement of several provisions of Chapter 17, the City’s Zoning Ordinance.  Within that ordinance there are several references to the duties and responsibilities of the Building Commissioner.  Since the Zoning Administrator position was created staff has worked with the City attorney to create this ordinance which would replace or add Zoning Administrator to all applicable duties.

The public hearing for this amendment will be held at the April 17, 2007 meeting with the understanding that the Plan Commission will need to review the amendments and make a recommendation to the Common Council.  It is anticipated the Plan Commission will review this at the April 24, 2007 meeting.  The ordinance will then come back to the Common Council for approval.

Fiscal Impact:  The amendment of this zoning code would have a negligible fiscal impact.
