Recommendation:  That the Common Council Concur with the recommendation of the Director of Parks, Recreation & Forestry and approve the purchase of one 2007 John Deere (Model 997) Commercial Mower from Highway “C” Service in the amount of $12,189.00.

Background:  During the 2007 budget process, the Council received justification and authorized the purchase of the newly designed rear discharge mower specifically designed for safer median grass mowing.  The cost for the 2007 mower is based on the Governmental & National Sales Bid awarded to the John Deere Company.  John Deere is currently the only known manufacturer of the preferred rear discharge, diesel, zero radius turn mower.

Fiscal Impact:  Funds in the amount of $13,000 have been included in the approved 2007 Capital Equipment Budget for this purchase.
