Recommendation:  That the Common Council adopt Resolution No. 10745-032007, a resolution accepting the 2006 Annual Report for Oak Creek’s WPDES Storm Water (NR 216) permit. 

 

Background:  The City is required to submit an annual report to the Department of Natural Resources summarizing the status of implementation of storm water management programs and compliance with schedules outlined in Oak Creek’s NR 216 permit.  The permit requirements are water quality based.  This report contains updated pollutant loading calculations with and without implemented structural controls and practices.  The purpose of these calculations was to assess the status of Oak Creek’s compliance with the pollutant reduction requirements of NR 151 (20% City-wide reduction by March 10, 2008 and 40% City-wide reduction by March 10, 2013).  The City is currently at a 36% reduction level, which meets the 2008 requirement and is close to meeting the 2013 requirement.  The City’s proactive approach of incorporating water quality into projects and developments appears like it will result in a significant financial savings by reducing the number of structural water quality facilities required to meet the NR 151 pollutant reduction requirements.

RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE 2006 ANNUAL REPORT FOR OAK CREEK’S WPDES STORM WATER (NR 216) PERMIT

 

WHEREAS, the City of Oak Creek is required to prepare and submit an annual report for compliance with Oak Creek’s WPDES Storm Water (NR 216) permit to the Department of Natural Resources; and

 

WHEREAS, the annual report outlines Oak Creek’s status of implementation of storm water management programs and compliance with schedules contained in the permit.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek that the 2006 Annual Report for Oak Creek’s WPDES storm water (NR 216) permit has been reviewed and accepted.
