MAYORAL PROCLAMATION

OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF STATUS

OF THE CITY OF OAK CREEK

AS A CITY OF THE THIRD CLASS

WHEREAS, Wisconsin Statutes, Sec. 62.05, states that Wisconsin cities shall be divided into four classes for administration and the exercise of corporate powers; and,

WHEREAS, the criterion for a city to pass from one class to another takes place upon a change in population verified by the last federal census; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Oak Creek became qualified to change status from a fourth-class to a third-class city, which is a population between 10,000 and 39,000, after the 1970 census showing a population of 13,928.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Oak Creek hereby proclaims that the City of Oak Creek shall be henceforth be officially designated as a city of the third class.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this proclamation shall be transmitted to the State of Wisconsin, Legislative Reference Bureau, for recording in official state records.
