CONGRATULATIONS TO

WE ENERGIES

SOUTHEASTERN CHAMBER UNITED IN BUSINESS (SECUB)

2006 BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

WHEREAS, the Southeastern Chamber United in Business (SECUB) conducts an annual search for the business most deserving of recognition because of their contributions to this community, its organizations, and its youth; and

WHEREAS, SECUB will be hosting a banquet on Thursday, January 18, 2007, to honor the “2006 Business of the Year”; and

WHEREAS, We Energies has been chosen by SECUB to receive the “2006 Business of the Year” award; and

WHEREAS, for over 50 years We Energies, and its employees, have operated the Oak Creek Power Plant; and

WHEREAS, We Energies is investing over 2 billion dollars in the construction of two new coal fired generating units in the City; and

WHEREAS, We Energies has been serving its customers in the Oak Creek area for more than 110 years, with a commitment to providing reliable, safe energy, while also striving to be a solid corporate citizen; and

WHEREAS, We Energies views its relationship with Oak Creek as a partnership, working together to improve the quality of life for all who live and work in the community; and

WHEREAS, We Energies demonstrates its support of Oak Creek through community involvement, sponsorship and support, including the United Way of Greater Milwaukee, the Oak Creek/Franklin Education Foundation, the City of Oak Creek Celebrations Commission events, the Oak Creek Little League, National Night Out, Safety education programs at local schools, local food pantries, fire department safety equipment and educational funding and tree planting for Arbor Day; and

WHEREAS, employees of We Energies have been active in the community through their involvement in the chamber of commerce, civic committees, Oak Creek Little League, the football booster club, Crimestoppers and scouting.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek hereby congratulate We Energies for being selected the “2006 Business of the Year”.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this proclamation be spread upon the minutes of this meeting and that the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to transmit a suitable copy thereof to We Energies.
