City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: February 6, 2007
Item No.:
Recommendation: That the Council hold Resolution No. 10728-020607 vacating the East Edison Road right-of-way, until after the required public hearing (4th District).
Background: A request has been made for the right-of-way for East Edison Road to be vacated and the property returned to the property owners to the north and south of the right-of-way. Edison Road only serves properties owned by Mid America Steel so the vacation will not have a negative impact on surrounding property owners. Once vacated, maintenance will be the responsibility of Mid America steel or any future property owners.
The Water and Sewer Utility has indicated that they will need a 50 foot wide easement along the S. Chicago Road Right of Way.
This resolution is being introduced this evening. The public hearing will be held on March 20, 2007. The Council may act on the resolution at that time.
Fiscal Impact: This vacation will return the 15,000 + square foot right of way to private ownership. The vacation of this small stretch will also relieve the City of maintenance responsibility for the road.
