Recommendation:  That the Common Council adopts Resolution No. 10734-021907, a resolution authorizing the road improvement projects listed below.

Background:  The Engineering Department recently conducted its annual city-wide inspection, rating and rehabilitation cost analysis of the streets.

On February 13, 2007, the CIP Committee discussed the 2007 road improvement projects and recommended the following streets for rehabilitation under public contract.  The Engineering Department would prepare the plans, specifications and bid documents.

Fiscal Impact:  Currently, there is approximately $90,000 in the “Unspecified Streets” control account left over from past paving projects, and $750,000 budgeted for in the 2007 CIP, for a total of about $840,000 available for this year’s paving program.

RESOLUTION OF AUTHORIZATION TO PROCEED WITH

ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS

WHEREAS, in the judgment of the Common Council of the City of Oak Creek, it is deemed to be expedient and necessary and in the best interest of the City and the property affected thereby that the City proceed with the projects as follows:

            WHEREAS, the City Engineer has approved preliminary plans and specifications for said improvements.

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oak Creek as follows:

1. That the aforementioned improvements be installed.

2. That payment for said improvements shall be made from funds in the “Unspecified Streets” control account and CIP funds reserved in the 2007 budget.

3. That the City Engineer is hereby authorized to approve final plans and specifications upon their completion.

4.         That the City Clerk is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for said improvements and that she shall advertise for such bids in the official newspaper, the Western Builder and the Daily Reporter.

            Introduced at a regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Oak Creek held this 19^th day of February 2007.

            Passed and adopted this 19^th day of February 2007.
