Background:  In August of this year staff submitted an application on behalf of the cities of Oak Creek and Franklin for a Good Government award for the work that is being done on the 27th Street corridor. The Wisconsin Good Government Award is sponsored by Foth, a Wisconsin-based consulting engineering firm, and is presented in cooperation with the League of Wisconsin Municipalities and the Wisconsin Counties Association. It recognizes outstanding examples of intergovernmental cooperation and local government cost saving efforts throughout the state.

 

On October 5th of this year, Mayor Bolender, along with City of Franklin Mayor Tom Taylor attended a meeting of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities at which time they accepted this award on behalf of the cities of Oak Creek and Franklin for their cooperative work on the planning of the 27th Street corridor.

 

As part of this award, Jerry Dassler, president of Foth Infrastructure & Environment, and Tom Ludwig, Foth Senior Project Manager will be present at this evening’s Council meeting to present the City of Oak Creek with a community enhancement grant of $1000.

 

More information on this award is contained in the attached press release.  A copy of the nomination is also included.

 

Fiscal Impact:  The $1000 community enhancement grant will be presented to the City at this meeting and will be placed in the Economic Development Fund.
