City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: October 2, 2007
Item No.:
Recommendation: That the Council adopt Ordinance No. 2478, which would rezone the property at 9160 S. Shepard Avenue & part of 9330 S. Shepard Avenue from Rs-2 and Rs-3, Single Family Residential to I-1, Institutional.
Background: In order to accommodate the new East Middle School the Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District acquired land to the north and east of the school property. The land to the north is zoned Rs-2, Single Family Residential and the land to the east is zoned Rs-3, Single Family Residential. The school is requesting that these lands are rezoned to I-1, Institutional, which is the appropriate zoning classification for school facilities.
A certified survey map is also being proposed to combine these properties and dedicate required easements for drainage, sanitary sewer, and a future watermain.
The Plan Commission has reviewed this request and has recommended that these properties be rezoned.
Fiscal Impact: Since the parcels are owned by the Oak Creek Franklin Joint School District they are tax exempt.
