City of Oak Creek

Common Council Report

Meeting Date: October 2, 2007

Item No.:

Recommendation:  To concur with the recommendation of the Traffic and Safety Commission and approve the installation of 3-way stop signs at the intersection of E. Bluestem Drive and S. Rosemont Lane.

Background:  The request was discussed at the Traffic and Safety Commission meeting on September 12, 2007.  There were 3 residents present for the item.  The residents stated that since the new subdivision to the south was connected to the existing roadway, they have experienced additional traffic that travels at higher speeds.  They also commented on the additional traffic from the local school and poor driving habits of bus drivers.  They stated that they were committed to continuing to teach and watch children in the area even with the installation of the stop sign.  The motion passed with 7 members in favor and 1 against (Engineering) the motion.

Fiscal Impact:  If approved, there are sufficient funds available in the Street Department operating budget to accommodate this installation.
