City of Oak Creek

Common Council Report

Meeting Date:01/16/07

Item No.:

Recommendation:  That the Council approve the Amendment to Agreement between Milwaukee County, Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture and the City of Oak Creek regarding the parcel of land known as Oak Creek Parkway (Camelot Park)

Background: In 1985, Milwaukee County leased two parcels of land to the City of Oak Creek for park and recreational purposes.  The two parcels of land are known as Oak Creek Parkway (Camelot Park) and Park Site 65 (Riverton Meadows Park).

In 2002, the City entered into a Land Lease Agreement with Milwaukee County Airport Division for land northwest of Chapel Drive in the Chapel Hills neighborhood.  In 2004, the City developed Camelot Neighborhood Park on the leased land.

The Oak Creek Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission, and Director of Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department agree that there is no longer a need to lease the Oak Creek Parkway (Camelot Park) land located southwest of Montana Drive for park development in the Chapel Hills Neighborhood.  Milwaukee County has agreed to remove the Oak Creek Parkway (Camelot Park) parcel of land from the lease and has forwarded the enclosed signed Amendment to Agreement. Larry Haskin, City Attorney, has reviewed and approved the language in the Amendment to Agreement.

Fiscal Impact:  None
