Recommendation:  That the Common Council approve the recommendation of the Street Department Supervisor to purchase one (1) current model year brush chipper from the low bidder Wins Equipment, LLC, in the amount of $24,778.00, and to authorize the transfer of the remaining funds ($20,222.00) to 2003 CEP Project No. 03024.

Background:  The Street Department advertised for bids for a current model year brush chipper.  Three (3) bids were received and all were given the option of trading in a thirteen (13)-year old 1993 Vermeer 1250 chipper that no longer fits the needs of the department.

Fiscal Impact: 

Funds needed to purchase this chipper have been approved in the 2006 CEP budget of $45,000.00.

I am requesting that the remaining funds of $20,222.00 be added to the 2003 CEP fund for the purchase of the Backhoe as funds might be short given the cost of steel.
