City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date:
Item No.:
Recommendation: That the Council adopts Ordinance 2429 increasing salaries for the Water and Sewer Utility Commission by fifty dollars per month as recommended by the Personnel Committee.
Background: The Utility Commissioners requested that their salaries be increased due to the length of time since the last increase and the increased oversight responsibilities during this time. Commissioners’ salaries were last increased in 1994. During this time, the area served and the number of customers served by the Utility has doubled. Additionally, drinking water regulations have significantly increased resulting from passage of the Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule, and the Disinfection and Disinfection Byproduct Rule. Our Utility remains the only Phase III utility in Wisconsin in the national Partnership for Safe Water Program.
Prior to 1994, it had been thirty years since the Commissioners last increase.
Fiscal Impact: Utility Commission salaries are funded by the Water and Sewer Utility.
